For a real back country mountain biking adventure, you might want to try Cheat Mountain Club in Cheat Ridge. The 100-year-old fishing and hunting lodge mow offers mountain biking, horseback riding, snowshoeing , cross country skiing and canoeing.

Just a 25-minute drive from the Snowshoe/Slayfork area, Cheat Ridge offers plenty of its own singletrack trails and is just two miles from the start of the West Fork River Rail Trail. "Very few places have the feel of the Cheat Mountain Club," said outfitter Jason Means. "You can come here and really get away from the 20th century. Everything is made of wood, meals are home-cooked and there's always a fire going in the fireplace."
